That first beer bar is nearly 1,500 miles away in Houston, the very first Ginger Man (or Gingerman in deference to the great late Mr. Though it certainly seems that it could be, this location of The Ginger Man is not the one that introduced the concept of the “beer bar.” These bars, in turn, helped to raise the interest in quality beers and abetted the growth of what were called microbreweries in the 1980s and 1990s. It is the fitting setting for one of the nation’s best beer bars.
